Dell 1150 Laptop wireless driver

I am very new to linux and a friend just gave me fedora 5 but I cant get the wireless networking to work. The cable connection works fine but fedora does not recognize the wireless hardware. Why?

It is probably because you do not have the driver for your wireless card installed.

What wireless adapter do you have? make, model etc.

If you are interested in learning-by-doing, maybe have a look/google for ndiswrapper. If you'd prefer to just get the answer, I can probably help with a little more information about your wireless adapter.

That was what I figured. I have 1350 WLAN card in my inspirion 1150. Do you just download a driver and install it like with windows or is it more complicated than that?

Hey,

Spent the last 30 mins writing a big long howto for ndiswrapper for you and had to do a google to check the last step, found a decent enough tutorial in another thread instead... grr :)

anyway, maybe have a look at the other post and get back to me if yer stuck.

Fedora 5 is bit too old now that Fedora 9 is out.
why not try some newer distro? This will surely help you out with driver issues to some extent.

This Link (http://people.redhat.com/davej/kerne...5/RPMS.kernel/) does not work. I would really like to learn how to install these drivers though.

Tried installing Fedora 9 but when I try to activate the wireless card it gives me some kind of error about having a bug. My friend that gave fedora 5 said that 5 was the most stable copy out right now, that's why he gave it to me. Have not had any other problem with 9 but I haven't tried to do that much with it.
