Deleting update files
Hi to everyone.
I would like to ask if it is safe to delete the files that are found at /var/cache/yum/updates/packages (CentOS v5) which are created as far as i understood when i run the yum update. Thanks for your help in advance |
Go through the motions of using yum to update. Look for an option, check box, radio button, etc., that says "delete package after installation'. If you find one, it's probably safe to delete the files.

thanks for your reply...the "problem" is that i am using only the command line version of CentOS and all the management is done through WinSCP.

You can safely remove the downloaded packages. Keeping them is useful for successive installations, for example when you have to sync computers in a LAN without downloading them again.

Thanks a lot for the swift reply.
