deleting hard drive


I have ubuntu 10.04 and mint 11 installed and need to remove them so i can install windows xp to dual boot with ubuntu 10.04.thank you.

boot from a liveCD or USB then open up Gparted select the hard drive and delete the partitions from there. Everything will be gone.

Just delete the partition table. To fo that boot into Mint or Ubuntu and launch the following command:

Warning: This command will delete the partition table on your harddisk. Do not use it when you don't want to do exactly that!
Code:
sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=512 count=1
