Question Deleting Extra Partition in Mandrake 8.1

I have an old PC I'm experimenting with Linux on. I am using Mandrake 8.1, but am having a problem. The hard drive in the system is only 1 GB, but it is formated into 2 partitions. On of the partitions which contains Mandrake in is working fine, but I want to use the full hard drive for Mandrake. Is there a way to delete the other partition while Mandrake is running? I tried using the diskdrake, but I wasn't sure what to select and I tried to click on "clear all" and then "auto allocate" but it still kept my other partition on my hard drive that I"m trying to delete. Can I used Diskdrake in the Mandrake OS?

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

To help us to assess the situation a bit better, can
you please post the output of the following commands?

fdisk -l

cd / && du -sm *

Cheers,
Tink

OK - something went wrong there :)

Try as root.

and I can't understand why
cd / && du -sm *
only did your home directory,
either....
try
cd /
su -sm *
instead.

Cheers,
Tink
