Deleted User...

This just goes to show that I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing.

Anyhoo, i deleted the only user group that existed, and logged out, hoping that it would automatically log-in as root (?). Now it's at the start screen, asking me for my user name and password. Ha. <Dies>

On top of that, I have it set to automatically log me in as the (deleted) user every 30 seconds.

PLEASE help!

And while ur at it, any advice as to installing a Soundblaster card would be helpful.

You can try to get to a console
Ctrl+Alt+F1 (2,3, take your pick) ...
If that won't work because X keeps
stealing your focus...

Assuming that you still have a root-account you
could reboot the box, on the bootloaders prompt
add "single" as a parameter, and then login as
root on the prompt. Fix the problem from there
using the apporpriate tool of your distro ;)

adduser/useradd
groupadd
