delete vista
 

i just got ubantu and want to delete vista btw ubantu only has 3.57gb how do i increase that to the full harddrive? also g parted doesnt allow me to delete vista???

and how do i add memory to the ubantu and tell me weither i deleted vista or added memory

what you can do is re-install ubuntu and in the process just choose to do a full installation,

Use a live cd from Parted Magic and delete the partition you want to and extend the Ubuntu partition. You should, by the way, be very sure about the partitions so that you do not delete the wrong partition.

If this is a pre-installed version of Vista there will probably be a recovery partition that can be deleted. When you get to the partition stage of Ubuntu's install the default option is to run Ubuntu side-by-side with your current os. The first drop down box allows you to choose various options for install like, guided, custom but the one you want is Use Entire Hard disk.

Did you run GParted from Ubuntu? Then it might be that you aren't able to delete a partition, i had the same problem yesterday under Fedora 13.

But you can download the GParted Live CD from the developers website und from there you can delete it.
Resizing the Ubuntu partition will only work, when both the vista and ubuntu partition lay side-by-side, if the swap partition for example lays between them it won't work, then you have to reinstall Ubuntu and choose the full-install like mentioned above.

Actually, that command doesn't "do" anything. You were supposed to post its output here in this thread.

1. Go to a terminal
2. Type: sudo fdisk -l
3. Highlight the text on the screen and copy it
4. Paste the text that you copied into this forum so I can examine the output
5. Once I have examined the output I will tell you how to delete Vista

Okay i decided to run a full system recovery threw Alienrespawn v2.0 so it is deleting ubuntu and vista and then reinstalling vista which doesn't really matter because once its done i will Redownload ubuntu so where is the option to do a full partition and delete vista note: i do not want to delete the secret partition of Alienrespawn because if Ubuntu messes up i will be screwed big time because alienware doesnt send recovery disks
