Defragmentation

Can I defragment Windows partitions (NTFS/Fat32) through Linux? I am having Windows Vista and Opensuse 11.1

There are no true defragmentation programs available in Linux for Windows file systems. I know because I've looked for them. There are however a few "defragmenting" scripts available that basically move the files off the partition then back on again, which reorders the file system so that most of the fragmentation is eliminated. One of them is available here (just a download page, but check out the README link first).

What's wrong with the basic Windows defrager?

I use Defraggler for Windows, which seems to be an improvement over the basic one.

Not sure of any Linux equivalent.
