Default eth0 Configuration File in Ubuntu.?

In redhat, eth0 configuration files are available under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0. But in my ubuntu 14.04 i have not found any default configuration file for eth0. I google it and found it is there in /etc/network/interfaces, But there is no configuration is there. So i have to know where is the default configuration place for eth0 in Ubuntu..?

ubuntu uses the network-manager system to configure your network interfaces. the network-manager daemon handles configuration automatically. There are network-manager configuration files found in /etc/NetworkManager (at least that is the location in debian).

if you want to override the network manager system for some reason, you can specify your own configuration in /etc/network/interfaces. network-manager will not manage interfaces defined in that file.
