Dedicated FreeCell machine
Hello,
I would like to create a live CD that my father can use on a HDD-less computer to play FreeCell. That means that the computer should start up without asking any questions and load a game of FreeCell (a GUI, of course). How should I start? Or would there be another viable option? |
I'm no Linux Guru so I'm sure others shall post with better solutions but I do like Puppy Linux. Puppy gives you the option of configuring it to how you want, i.e. Start FreeCell at start up by dropping the link into the "Start_up" folder (or similar) and then burning this personalised version of Puppy to a CD. When your father re-boots with the CD in the drive it shall Start Puppy and open FreeCell automatically.
Edit, Assuming that FreeCell is available in Puppy, sorry I can't check this for you at the moment. |
Do you have a particular piece of hardware in mind - and is it capable of booting from USB? That would probably be faster to boot, and definitely quieter.

There are a few ways to create a single use cd.
Might check out SuseStudio. It is pretty easy to make what you want there. A way to do it from an install is remastersys. I haven't used this but you can try it. http://www.linux-live.org/ Could get whacky and do it from scratch. http://geekdeck.wordpress.com/2009/0...-from-scratch/ Make a spin. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to..._use_a_Live_CD Use some any of the knoppix how-to's that also relate to the knoppix based systems. |
