Decoding Base64 encoded PHP scripts on Linux Server

Is it necessary to install something on a linux server to enable the decoding of a base64 encoded php script?

PHP is running fine on the server, but I am trying to install a base64 encoded php script, and just getting a blank page, so I thought maybe the problem is because the server can not decode the script?

Ummm ... the PHP interpreted wouldn't know what to do w/ BASE64.
If you want it to execute the script, save it as plain text.

Where did it come from, out of curiosity? =o)

Cheers,

Thumbs up base64

It is just a sitemap generator script from xml-sitemaps.com, I think they encode it to protect their code.

I have managed to get it working now, I resorted to rebuilding Apache, upgrading to php 5.16 and installing Zend, as I read that that encodes/decodes etc.

Something in that process fixed in, whether it was the installation of Zend or simply some apache config problem that got fixed with the rebuild, I do not know. But at least now I no longer see empty pages where I should see stuff!
