Debian. Video Driver problem. Apt-get server error.
Hello!. I made a new partition on my hard drive yesterday and installed Debian(latest release) on it as a dual boot between it and Windows XP. My graphics card is a S3 Unichrome Pro IGP which is known to have problems with Linux. I was using openchrome which only worked in 1600x1200 although my laptop screen's native resolution is 1280x800. Changing the resolution made it all distorted. Anyway, my main problem is that I tried uninstalling openchrome and replaced it with an xorg s3 driver. It absolutely does not work at all. In linux I get to grub, have the option to boot into Windows(Which I am in now.),Debian, and Debian Recovery. In linux I can only get to the recovery console with the 'root' command line. I have tried
Code:
apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-openchrome bcorbett |
btw, I live in Ireland (Which is why the server has 'ie' in it.) Is there any way to change the server used? Help would be appreciated :(
