Debian (Sarge) Install Freezing
I recently download 'debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso' and I had no problems downloading or burning. When I boot from the disk I get a splash screen and it says, 'Press F1 for help, or ENTER to boot: _' I leave the underscore because the I Beam was frozen like that. Once that screen appeared, nothing would happen. I couldn't do anything. I have no clue what is happening, or what I did wrong. I've tried two separate netinst ISO's and they've all done that. Am I getting the right version (i386)? Is it my burner? Or is it the disks?

how did you burn them? make sure that you followed the relevant instructions for burning isos- try this link:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...iewcat&catid=8 or google "burn iso" is this your first linux? (IE are you trying to burn in windows?) did you check the md5sum? titanium_geek |
If you're Processor is a pentium class, than yeah, you got the right one.
Try the F1 for help. |
I've burned the Woody version before, and installed that perfect. I'm currently using an AMD Sempron (yes it's horrible). Soon, I'm building a new system, so I'll have AMD's 64-bit. I can't do anything at the splash screen. It's frozen, or it sure seems like it.
So I take it I got the wrong version? How would I check the ms5um file? Thanks for all the help and suggestions, by the way. EDIT: I saw the ms5um thing on your link. Excuse that comment. EDIT 2: The ISO is 'OK'. |
