Debian on VMware

I have installed Debian 3.1r0 on WinXP. I want to install VMware Tools on Debian. Do I use the tools from VMware for windows or linux?

You install the version of the tools for the Guest. VMware will figure this out when you click the "Install Vmware Tools" option from the menu. It will mount the appropriate .ISO file as a cdrom inside the virtual machine.
