USB CD won't load

I dug up an old laptop of mine vaio pcg-k47, and the cd rom drive is shot on it. I installed PLOP program that would let me boot from an external cd-rom drive or usb because the bios didn't allow it. When I put the debian cd into my usb cd rom I keep getting the error isolinux.bin missing or corrupt. I've used the same cd on other computers and not had this issuse.

Can you replace the bad CD drive?

With old laptop hardware I found Distro Antix to be the only solution in some cases.
