I'm a newbie and I'd like to ask isn't the current version 506?
You're installing 503 minimal?
Wouldn't you need updates for 503 and if so are they supporting the older software?
Like I said I'm a newbie. I apoligize if I was off-base.

It doesn't really matter, if you install 5.0.3 or 5.0.6, if you make updates after installation (which you should also installing 5.0.6). Debian Stable gets only security-updates, no new software, therefore it is called stable.

I noticed you have the 1055, I have the 1090T researching virtual machines to see how and what I'm going to do with it.

It's a great processor, with enough RAM you can setup virtual networks for testing server/client setups, had 4 machines running and enough power to look a film at the same time.
