Debian goes Beep Beep?

If I keep switching between user A and user B, after a few switches and closing IceWisel on user B, user B's icons disappear, and when I try to log out from user B's account, the system just hangs there. When I kill gnome by doing Control Alt Backspace, I'm back at the login screen, however, the system keeps beeping the system speaker (every like 2-3 seconds). I just ran a apt-get purge gnome and a apt-get install gnome, and this hasn't changed much. What packages could be acting up, and how do I fix it?

My plan B is to wipe the system and install Ubuntu, however, I really would like to save me the hassle.

The beeps are usually signs of issues with kernel modules, check /var/log/syslog after that happens to see what is reported to be the issue.

beep beep

Have you tried swaping hard drives? It maybe a kernel issue but may also be starting from a hardware problem, drive or otherwise.

Fred.

You can also use the "dmesg" command in a terminal to see messages from the kernel.
