Debian Dilemma

I've just tried to install Debian Sarge, and it got stuck on the screen "Looking for ways to get at CD-ROM, SCSI: 92%" or something of that sort. It does this every time.

What the succulent sucker is going on here?

Did you check the MD5 sums to see if your download was OK?

Personally habala, when I tried to install "proper" debian I "crashed and burned" as I didn't know enough.

I got round that, by installing knoppix to hard drive and then changing all the apt-sources to debian ones.

This was a while ago, which means you've got a few options now. If I was going for debian again, I'd install Ubuntu. Then change all the apt-sources so that any packages that I wanted to install extra, were from debian repositories - plus any updates/upgrade would also come from the debian rep's.

It's just a case of having a decent installer (for decent, read graphic or easily followed). The proper debian one is good, but requires mega amounts of manual configuration.

Maybe that helps a little?

regards

John

p.s. I've suggested the above as I don't know how to sort your actual problem as it stands!

when I installed debian the base install wouldn't work, I changed the filesystem of the partition and it worked. Maybe its the scsi drive? Try a different distro that supports the hardware better
