Debian & Broadcom 570x Gigabit
I've tried, I've googled, I've cursed, I've repented my MCSE... I just can't get this bloody thing to work.
I've got a Dell D800 with Debian 3.0 R1 on it (woody, if it matters). Did a base install from CD, and downloaded what I believe are the drivers for it. I have a file from Broadcom, installing it (at least I think that's what I'm doing) gives me: dpkg -i bcm5700-module-2.4.17-pe2550.deb (Reading database ... 43428 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing to replace bcm5700-module-2.4.17-pe2550 2.0.24-1 (using bcm5700-module-2.3.17-pe2550.deb) ... Unpacking replaecment bcm5700-module-2.3.17-pe2550 ... Setting up bcm5700-module-2.3.17-pe2550 (2.0.24-1) ... From here, I've no idea what to do next. ifconfig just gives me the loopback adapter. Clearly I'm missing something - any help mucho appreciated. |
Add: modprobe bcm* gives me "can't locate module bcm5700-source.prerm".
