Debian 5.0.4 DVD (AMD64) does not recognize Toshiba L500D-ST2532 DVD Drive

Hello,
I am new to Linux. I am trying to install the subject Debian on the subject Toshiba. Both recent purchases. Debian boots on the DVD but during the install routine it says that it can not find/recognize my CD-DRIVE. I have tried every install option and rebooted several times without success. The bios were changed to boot from the DVD.

I have accessed the Help on the Debian DVD #1 disk and reviewed the relevant sections but I can not determine what to do next?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

Follow the directions given.
When you come to a part that doesn't work or you are not sure about, post that here.
This way, you'll get help when you need it.

I can not install Debian because the install program will not recognize the Toshiba DVD drive.

Do you have a suggestion to solve this issue?

Thanks,
Bill

Have you tried burning a business card image and doing a net install?
That may work.
