Dear friends i m very new to linux
 
Dear friends,

I m very new to linux and first of all i want to install linux on my laptop which have window os already installed on it,so which os i should install.i m working in iptv area and most of the times working on hardware side ,but i want to make my life easy by learning Linux commands and troubleshooting network issues. please help me.

Go to the Distrowatch website and do some browsing. I'm sure you'll find what you want.

I recommend downloading the a live iso and creating a bootable CD, DVD, or USB flash drive from it. This will allow you to try Linux without making any modifications to your laptop's hard drive.

Mint has a very easy install routine for setting up dual boot (easy, of course, is a relative term--it's still wise to do your homework, read the docs, and back up crucial data). When I made my Win7 computer dual boot, I chose Mint for that reason. If you want to try something else later on, you can just install it over the Mint partitions.
