Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

here is an interesting problem hopefully I can get some help
using fedora 4 was having a hard time getting jpilot to sync.
created a mknod /dev/ttyUSB1 c 188 1 change chmod to 777 then created a sym link to dev/pilot that was the only way I could get pilot to show
did the sync says it worked yet the data is not in jpilot in linux and my palm is now empty somehow in the link I lost my data on my palm and looking at the files in jpilot not all the information came along.
does anyone have any ideas on this. By the way I sent an email to judd who wrote jpilot and he has never heard of this happening before.
I may have a related problem with jpilot and FC4. When synchronizing, jpilot copies all appointments from Linux to my Sony Clie, but it does not copy all appointments from the PDA to Linux. Any suggestions?
