Ok, I did that, and it loaded. The thing is, It is now say ing "The application j"gnome-settings-daemon" has quit unexpectedly. You can inform the developer of what happened to help them fix the problem or you can restartteh application right now. Then ther eare two buttons. Close, and Inform developers. I clicked close and it just kept comming back up. So after like 20 times I clikced inform developers. It is frozen now. What went wrong and how do I fix it?

Any help on this?

Maybe you should try to configure the XServer. Typical commands are xorgconfig, if Slack has Xorg and xf86config, if it has XFree. This procedure will generate an /etc/xorg.conf or xf86.conf, which XWindows and consequently every other WindowManager and Gnome also will use, with mouse, screen, keyboard, graphics card settings. Don't know if this has caused the problem, but you will definitely need to do these settings once in your life- i've used them hundreds, so search in Internet to find a tutorial with these.

Anyone have a link to such a tutorial?

Yeah, it's called "Book" on the first page of the Slack website. There is also a link called "Configuration" on the same first page of the site.
