No, we can't. That's like asking "how high is up???" Daily admin tasks vary from company to company, and machine to machine. No way of knowing.

Since you took the job, it would be a better question to ask your new boss, as in "What are my daily duties? What am I responsible for?" Also, you should really post AIX questions in the AIX forum...

IBM has almost every document needed for AIX. It may take a few months to read even the most basic tasks needed.

Task #1: plan migration to Linux systems. (Sorry, I couldn't resist. )

Just to prove I'm not only trolling, I would say that AIX sysadmin duties are quite a lot like those of any other Unix or Unix-like sysadmin. I suggest either (or both) of the following books:
  • UNIX and Linux System Administration Handbook (ISBN 9780131480056)
  • Essential System Administration (ISBN 0596003439)

I've read both and can heartily recommend both. The former has a recent edition release. The latter is slightly dated, but still highly relevant. These comprehensive texts should supplement IBM's official documentation nicely.
