CVS ADD abort

I am new to CVS where i have a script which add file to repository and checkout. So whenever i run the script am getting following error

cvs [add aborted]: /home/cienaback/cvsroot/CVSROOT: No such file or directory

cvs [add aborted]: /home/cienaback/cvsroot/CVSROOT: No such file or directory

cvs [commit aborted]: /home/cienaback/cvsroot/CVSROOT: No such file or directory
cvs [checkout aborted]: /home/cienaback/cvsroot/CVSROOT: No such file or directory

what does it mean? it would be helpful if I get some guidance. I can give any specific information is needed to look into it. Thanks

The statements "No such file or directory", mean that THERE IS NO SUCH FILE OR DIRECTORY. Obviously, the path/file you specified is invalid. Correct it.

It would help if you posted the script.
