Cut and Paste from vim (not Gvim) into a windowed app

Hi,

Is it possible to cut and paste text from vim (terminal based - not gvim) into a normal windowed application like Gedit or wysiwyg mail client? I can only seem to find how to cut and paste text within vim itself.

In the past I've sporadically been able to highlight things with a mouse and then middle click to copy it. Then middle click somewhere else (like a web browser or OOWriter) to paste it. Note it might also try pasting it where you copied it from, so save before you copy and then don't save changes if it's a large duplicate.

In the Kde environment, if you have klipper (the clipboard tool), make sure it's running (you'll see the icon in the tray).

Highlight the text in vim and press ctrl-c to copy. Look in the clipboard, you'll see it there.

Then click on the copied text, go to your GUI editor, and paste it in.
