Customizing GNOME - Suggestions?

I've been using Linux sporadically for a few months now, and want to start getting serious about replacing Windows with it (either Linux or Mac OS X.... but that's a topic for another forum).

I've seen some very nice screenshots of Gnome that have been posted at Gentoo's site (URL removed b/c this is my first thread). How can I customize Gnome with all of these neat features? Do any of you more experienced users have any suggestions on ways to tweak the look from the default? I've played with the Themes that come bundled, but I'm looking for more. Any sites to recommend? Google didn't seem to yield much - maybe I was using the wrong search terms?

BTW, I'm using Fedora Core 1, not Gentoo. (I just happened to see the screenshots and like them.)

Thanks for your help in advance.

Take a look here. Thats the main site for gDesklets, and theres a bunch of nice little things for eye candy for your desktop.

Personally, I use KDE more, so I use SuperKaramba, which is quite similar to gDesklets, but I don't think either of them work across both KDE and Gnome...
