Custom Raw Device Names in RHEL 5.4

Hello,

Noticed that raw device support was officially added back in RHEL 5.4. Just wanted to know if it would be possible to have a custom raw device name, instead of /dev/raw/rawN in 5.4? We are running Sybase database on RHEL 5.3 and would like to know if it would be possible to name the raw devices like data[nn], tlog[nn] etc., Also, not sure if Linux Volume Manager has any capability to create raw devices, similar to Veritas Volume Manager? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Take a look at udev, it is how RedHat rename devices.
