Custom Packaging Help (Asterisk Distro)

I'm new here so bear with me.

I really need some help building a distro that will include Asterisk and some custom GUI work that I have done. The concept here would be something similar to Trixbox or AsteriskNOW. These are both great projects but I have found some features lacking in both of them and so I have added some features to the Asterisk GUI framework, which I want to package into an installable ISO. I would really appreciate any help that can be given and I will be returning all my work back to the open source community.

Here is some additional info so you can have a clear picture of what I want to achieve.
- The accepted distro for most people using Asterisk is CentOS and thus I would want to start there. Any opinions appreciated.
- I NEED users to be able to upgrade their software via a simple yum upgrade or similar.
- I also want to strip CentOS down to the components necessary for the system to work (security and space issues).

As you may be able to tell by now my main area of work has been in GUI development and so please be as clear as you can regarding the advanced linux topics I know will be needed to achieve my objectives.
