Custom boot disk w/NTFS and DOS emulation
Hi,
I'd like to create a custom boot floppy that has a minimal kernel and shell and support for NTFS. I found a single floppy distribution--Tinfoil Hat Linux (tinfoilhat.shmoo.com)--that offers this functionality. However, I'd also like to put a DOS emulator like DOSEMU on it so I can run some of the utilities that are on the hard disk. Do you have any tips on building the disk and also adding the DOS support? Is there a disk image like this that already exists? Would it all fit? I've played with both Linux and BSD but haven't built them from source or anything. Thanks a lot. -Dan |
If you look over at linux.org you can get a list of 'minimalist' distributions - some of which are bootable CD rescue packages.

Thanks, mcleodnine. I'll take a look at those. -Dan
