CUPS, localhost confusion
CUPS & Localhost Confusion ( post #1)
I have been trying to install a new multifunction printer/scanner/copier for the past week!?! Scans and Copies fine - but cannot print. Someone with more know-how than me has pinned down the problem to the way my home network is rigged up, permissions and a CUPS problem. Here's what happens: 1. I go to http://localhost:631/ >> Select Manage Printers 2. My HP PSC1205 printer is found and correctly configured to work with foomatic and hpijs 3. Device location is localhost >> But, when I try to Print Test Page, CUPS web interface attempts to contact http://main:631/printers/printer?op=print-test-page !?! 4. At first, I got a Time Out message >> Now, I get re-routed to details of Adobe's new Photoshop Product!?! Can anyone begin to shed light upon what is happening here and what I might do to try and remedy the situation? I know the printer works fine on a different linux box running Fedora and not connected to my network ... Thanks __________________ Annie |
Can you post up your /etc/hosts file, as well as explain your "home network" in more detail?
