Compaq deskpro with edubuntu kernel 2.6.15-26-386

Crystal sound cs423x giving fatal error: could not establish connection to sound server. Failing to insert

I know it is only ISA card, but it was part of the package as a gift from friend. I now need to figure out how to fix this thing. Should I replace the card with something else or is this setup doable? If replace. then how? Do I umount the cs423x/ then install the PCI card? If all this, then how? If not, what?

PLease help.

Replaced the card with PCI Creative, which works fine.
