Crossover Linux

Does anyone have any feedback regarding Crossover Linux? I am wondering if I should use it. I need to use Outlook, and I'm not able to get other e-mail clients to work the way I want them to on Ubuntu 7.10. Any feedback would be great, thanks!

I use CrossOver all the time. For what it supports, it works great. Many things will also run in WINE, which is free. (Crossover is the commercial version of WINE)

Check the Codeweavers website to see what they say about supporting Outlook.

what exactly do you need outlook for? is this for your company that you work for?

either way from the last time i used crossoveroffice they had full support for up to MS Office 2k3 so you should be ok with that.

Is there a reason why they can't use Evolution?

First of all, I just wanted to thank everyone for the replies. We need to use Outlook at work because we schedule meetings and tasks to other co-workers using Outlook. Plus we have an exchange server that it syncs up to. I am currently testing Evolution with our exchange server on Ubuntu 7.10. Since I don't know too much about Ubuntu or Evolution I need some info on either one. When I run Evolution 2.12.1 on Ubuntu 7.10 it retrieves everything very slowly from the exchange server. I am dual booting the machine with OpenSUSE 10.3 and it runs Evolutions 2.12 and I haven't ran into any problems with that so far. So I'm not sure if it's a problem with Evolution or Ubuntu. Any ideas?

I was asleep at the switch earlier.....My employer is moving to Outlook and claims that Evolution will work for the Linux/Unix users. I have asked for a demo, but nothing has happened yet.

I will renew my efforts next week and post here anything I learn.

Wine

I installed WINE and successfully installed Office 2000. All the Office programs work fine, except Outlook. When I try to open Outlook I get an error message that pops up and says, "Outlook requires Microsoft Outlook Express 4.01 or greater. You can install Outlook Express 5.0 by running IE5Setup.exe from the Internet Explorer folder where you installed Outlook, or download it from the Internet Explorer site on the Microsoft Web." Once I click Ok on that box, it pops up another box and says, "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook." I tried walking through the instructions provided by WINE that shows how to setup the Gecko IE engine, which works fine, but when it asks to go into the registry and add a key, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. When I go into the registry, HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer, I have 5 folders. The WINE documentation states this, "The second part is installing the registry entries to fool programs; Go to http://wiki.winehq.org/UsefulRegistryKeys scroll down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and then add the "Internet Explorer" keys using regedit." If anyone can help me solve this that would be much appreciated. Thank you.

well depending on the vs of MS Office you are running it should have IE5/6Setup.exe to run. IE5 will install via wine, no clue about IE6

I tried running the IE5setup and it wouldn't run. I'm not sure how to resolve this issue. I used a trial version of Crossover Linux to get Office 2000 to work. Outlook is the only program having problems. It doesn't seem to connect to the exchange server. The strange thing is that I was able to retrieve all my mail the first time I set it up, but all of a sudden it can't connect to it anymore.
