Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I have squid configured RHEL-5 Server, on same box DHCP, MYSQL, FTP & HTTPD services are running...
this server is running from 2 years, we didnot face any problems, but now one problem has started... while running internet suddenly internet is disconnecting, when i restart the server then only internet works for a hours again its getting same problem... Not understanding where is issue...
there will be other logs for the actual service, not the sites being reached, i.e. squid.out. also check /var/log/messages and other usual suspects. Clearly the fact that when it's not working it doesn't log the sites isn't really a whole lot of use.
How do you know this? Is there any error message?
Just saying "the internet disconnects" doesn't give us any information what might be wrong, as there are millions of possible reasons that the "internet disconnects".
You might want to start by asking yourself a few specific questions. Examples:
How is the server connected to the internet.
What are the symptoms when "it" happens.
What are the symptoms when it doesn't happen.
When the system is disconnected, what do tools like ifconfig, ping etc. report. What happens if you don't reboot but just restart networking.
Is there anything half-relevant in the log files around the time of the disconnect (files in /var/log and subdirectories, in particular /var/log/messages).
Is there anything else, e.g. how are the services doing that you mention.
Sorry i could not pick exact logs... Because in working hours i am unable to wait and do this all checking so if internet is not working that time our person is restarting immediately so i am fail to find the reasons...
But i have monitored one thing when i am clearing /var/log/squid/all 4 files then one day internet is working without disconnect...The file size is like below...
[root@proxy1 squid]# ls -ltr
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 136392 Dec 19 13:42 squid.out
-rw-r----- 1 squid squid 68335 Dec 19 13:43 cache.log
-rw-r----- 1 squid squid 42308222 Dec 19 13:56 store.log
-rw-r----- 1 squid squid 35278700 Dec 19 13:56 access.log
This file size we are getting daily... even the same server we are using from 2 years, i had kept auto rotate every 15days... it clearing files every 15 days(for 15 days file size were too much) even we didnot face any issue from 2 years... but now facing problem...
I am not sure what i did, that is correct or not, In server disk space is available there is no problem for disk space
[root@proxy1 ~]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda7 9.5G 610M 8.4G 7% /
/dev/hda6 9.5G 213M 8.8G 3% /tmp
/dev/hda5 9.5G 2.1G 7.0G 23% /usr
/dev/hda3 9.5G 4.8G 4.2G 54% /var
/dev/hda2 95G 25G 65G 28% /home
/dev/hda1 9.5G 156M 8.9G 2% /boot
tmpfs 759M 0 759M 0% /dev/shm
... just for testing purpose i had cleared files it worked fine... If my intention is correct then what is solution for this issue?
