Cricket Wireless Broadband doesn't work

When I was running the Ubuntu 9.04 distro, my Cricket Wireless broadband worked fine. I switched to PCLinuxOS because Ubuntu was too hard for me to figure out. When using Ubuntu, at the top of the screen I could click "Auto Broadband Connection" and my internet would kick in. However, there is no such function in PCLinuxOS. The modem (UTStarcom C100) shows as a potential connection, but when I click on to it, it asks for a four digit pin and a SIM card, neither of which I have or needed in the past. The connection works fine with Windows and Ubuntu. Does anyone know a workaround? I checked the package manager, but nothing there. I don't want to give up on this distro if I can help it. My other option(s) would be Xubuntu and Debian. Thanks for your time, as I just migrated from Windows XP Pro and need all the help I can get.

Hi :)

While I cannot help you directly (because I don't use Debian or PCLinuxOS), I will point you to this thread for some hints:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...anager-754274/

Now, I realize there isn't a lot of technical stuff in there about exactly what you need to do; the main reason I point you there is maybe you could try:

A) using or installing "Network Manager" as it seems to work nicely for the OP in that thread,
or..
B) Maybe emailing or otherwise contacting the OP of that thread, and asking him if he has anything more he could add to his thread that might help you get connected.

Meanwhile, hopefully another PCLinuxOS user will drop by with some 'perfectly tailored' information for you, specific to PCLOS.

Cheers,
Sasha
