Creating Windows-like shortcuts

Hi,

I have a shell script (launches java and an applet) and I'm trying to create desktop shortcut (think Windows) that I can double click to launch but alas can't get there!

The behavior I want is like TOOLS-EXECUTE SHELL SCRIPT in KONQUEROR

Please help!

Have you tried the "ln" command from a terminal?

I don't know how Tools-Execute work in Konqueror.

Another option is create a ".desktop file" like the following:

[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Nice name to show
Exec=/bin/sh "/path/to/your/file"
Icon=/path/to/icon.png
Categories=Application;Programming;Development
StartupNotify=true
Type=Application
Terminal=false

Just copy and paste into a text editor, change values to match yours and save it to your desktop using a file name like "shortcut.desktop".
You will get a nicer shortcut.
