Creating SubMenus in Gnome RHE6
Hello,
I'm trying to add some sub menus to the applications tab in RHE6. I'm trying to add some 3rd party software into the applications tab and seem to be hitting a brick wall. I have made .directory .desktop files for the software in the /usr/share/applications = .desktop /usr/share/desktop-directories = .directory and tried to add a submenu line to the /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu file but I can not seem to get the program to show up. Any clue? |
Just a wild-assed guess: the directory names prefixed with '.' means 'hidden' in some contexts. Try a conventional directory name.

@TheNbomr....no the .desktop and .directory are file extensions in the directories that I had mentioned in my first post.
doing an "ls" on /usr/share/applications you will see a list of files for example: "gnome-screenshot.desktop" doing an "ls" on /usr/share/desktop-directories you will see a list of files for example: "gnome-screensaver.directory" Here is a link to the page I have been trying to follow to achieve my end result. http://developer.gnome.org/menu-spec...cy-hierarchies This should help explain a bit more what I'm trying to accomplish here. |
Also to further explain my situation. I'm trying to add 3 party applications to the "Applications" menu within the GUI of RHE6. The programs I'm trying to add are part of an auto mount directory.
