Creating Desktop Icons
I'm pretty new to Linux so help me out. I've just installed a new application and I want to create a desktop icon to start it rather than using a shell. I've tried the "right click--create new--link to application" then, in the "execute tab" choose run in console and the command line in the box given. This doesn't work so please tell me whare I've messed up.

What window manager are you using?
|
Sounds like KDE. How did it "not work"? Can you be more specific?
|
Window manager? U mean KDE desktop? Yes, KDE on Slackware 8.1. Once the new icon is made and clicked on, I get a window for a splint second, then disappears.
I guess what I need is a walkthrough on making them correctly. |
Try deselecting the 'run in console/terminal' option.
Check you have set the correct path to the executable. :) |
oh I figured it out. On the execute tab under "Command:" I typed ./mplayer -dvd 1 -zoom. Thats all it took. Thanks anyway.
