Created /share and /export: isn't this redundant?
 

Things is i have 250gb Hdd on 3.5ghz Slackware 12.2 box I just want to use for web development(putting web pages together) so I create a /share partition and /export partition to store web pages i later move to web server. How do I setup this box right w/o wasting space? Only one or two users and only one working on web pages.

Why do you want separate partitions? and how big are your webpages (if you really want to partition). I advise to put /home on a separate partition, that way, you can flush the system easily when required, but apart from that, I see no benefit of a separate partition ... Maybe you can be clearer as to why you want a separate partition. 50Gb for / is enough, the rest for /home and swap (2*RAM - depending on RAM). My system hardly ever swaps ... ;-).

Setting up Mysql, Postfix, DDns, Bind, Appletalk, Samba, NFS, Vftp - on this box want to seperate data possible onto LVM partitions if I can figure out LVM. So i want different partitions to seperate data from different services, be able to resize partitions as needed, share storage disk space with web server, dhcpd on 2nd (30gb)PC, manage backup and learn howto even though its taking me along time.
Newer PCs have lots of ram and hardly swap unless you are doing intense graphic, sound, multi-media and gaming i think. Thank you thecarpy
