Create an Empty LVG partition

Hi,

I have a dedicated server and I'm installing Xen/Virtualizor. I need to create an empty Logical Volume Group on the unused space but I keep getting errors.

Here is one of the commands I tried.
vgcreate vg1 /sda/sd4

I get this error.
Quote:
selabel_open failed: No such file or directory
selabel_open failed: No such file or directory
selabel_open failed: No such file or directory
Device /sda/sd4 not found (or ignored by filtering).
Unable to add physical volume '/sda/sd4' to volume group 'vg1'.
Here is my partition schema.
Quote:
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sda 8:0 0 465.8G 0 disk
├─sda1 8:1 0 200M 0 part /boot
├─sda2 8:2 0 90G 0 part /
└─sda3 8:3 0 4G 0 part [SWAP]

I'm still working with this. It looks like the space I want to partition is unallocated. Just not sure where to begin. I'm wondering if I should create a partition using fdisk then use vgcreate.

You need to pvcreate first - this initializes the extent with LVM metadata. Then you can vgcreate.

And before you use pvcreate, you need to create the /dev/sda4 partition and (I think) mark it as a LVM partition.
