Create a script that asks the user for a file and then appends the date to the file

Hello,

I need to create a script that asks the user for a file and then appends the date to the file the user has entered. I also need to let the user know if the file can or cannot be written too. Then if the file does not exist create the file and write the date in the newly created file. Lastly I need display to the user the file, including a statement letting them know that the file has changed. If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it!

What did you learn in class? Which resources are you using to learn shell scripting? What have you tried so far. LQ does not exist to do your homework for you but will help you when you try yourself and get stuck.

Per the LQ Rules, please do not post homework assignments verbatim. We're happy to assist if you have specific questions or have hit a stumbling point, however. Let us know what you've already tried and what references you have used (including class notes, books, and Google searches) and we'll do our best to help. Also, keep in mind that your instructor might also be an LQ member.
