No, it shouldn't. You have used *.* as wildcard, wich will only show filenames that contain a dot. If you want to see all files just use * as wildcard.

There are some small differences in wildcard use in Linux versus Windows.

This isn't DOS! "*.*" expands only to those files and directories that have a literal "." in their names, so that's all you got.

I thought * meant any character.

Pfind works with *.* and finds all files.

Quite aware that it is not Dos. :-)

looking back its funny to see how many times this thread has changed subjects. To answer the original question:

Use absolute paths, and correct file extensions. That script can be changed into one line of commands. Also, who uses 'zip'? Try tar, or gzip, or even xz!

Zip is natively supported by any modern OS, so for being cross platform it is the obvious choice.
