I have installer Qmail with POP3 on my server, running RedHat8. This works fine. Wanting to use a Webmail interface on my mails, i installed Courier IMAP server. When i tried to log on via Outlook Express, i'm denied access. I only made four changes in the /usr/lib/courier-imap/etc/imapd:

ADDRESS=my local ip address
AUTHMODULES="authpam"
IMAP_CHECK_ALL_FOLDERS=1
IMAP_MOVE_EXPUNGE_TO_TRASH=1

If i use AUTHMODULES authpam, authpwd or authshadow, i get this message:

"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems or a long period of inactivity."

If i use AUTHMODULES authdaemon, i get this message:

"The server has rejected your login. Please verify that your username and password are correct"

What can be the problem here?

I have installed imap four times and I'm getting the same error. I 'm a newbie and I don't have idea on what could be wrong.

Ditto.
Qmail works fine.
Courier-imap is proving a tougher egg to crack.
