Couple of questions

Hi,
I have recently installed Debian + Xfree + KDE 3.4 but I am having a few minor issues.

1. I installed msfttcorefonts package by apt-get but it does not contain Tahoma. Do I have to install some other package to obtain tahoma and which one?
2. The FireFox I installed is the GTK version, I heard some time back that FireFox had been ported to QT but cant seem to find the package for it can someone point me in the right direction?
3. How do I get the latest (trunk) versions of FireFox packages. The latest one I could find in the debian packages was 1.02.
4. I have been hacing some problems with FireFox and the macromedia plugin (text on the macromdia.com page buttons doesn't appear) but can't figure out how to solve it.
5. Where can I find the kynaptic package manager?
That is all for now
Thanks

1. I believe that Tahoma was removed from the true type core fonts packages. You could do some googling to locate them.

2. Not familiar with a specific FireFox QT version. Try google.

3. Debian is not known for the latest greatest apps. They are slow and (overly?) cautious about adding new software. You may try using the unstable branch to locate newer app versions or download and compile the source yourself.

4. Dunno, don't use that plug-in myself.

5. Do you mean synaptic? you can apt-get that.

If you're really wanting the newest, greatest, bleeding edge software you chose the wrong distro with Debian. It's a very good distro who's primary objective is stability, not cutting edge. If stability is your main concern (why else choose Debian?) stick with the Debian stable or testing branches and use what they supply. If you want current bleeding edge, go with another distro.

Ok so I got tahoma..got firefox qt binaries (looks good though very very unstable). masonm I am using the experimental and testing branches and they seem pretty up to date. But I still cannot find deb packages for Kynaptic...which is a package manager similar to synaptic but made for kde. Any help there would be appreciated.

i think u can download kynaptic from this site

http://higgs.djpig.de/ubuntu/www/hoary/admin/kynaptic

it is for ubuntu now since ubuntu is debian based so i think u won't have any problem using that in debian too
