Post the section for your mouse from your xorg.conf so we can take a look.

sorry but my ex with linux is 0%  |
if u mean /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/config/xorg.cf
i uploaded the whole file here: http://66.7.203.169/xorg.cf |
Sorry, xorg.conf should be in /etc/X11.
|
It would also help if the OP could post video card, monitor, keyboard, and mouse specs.

To locate xorg.conf type "locate xorg.conf" at a command line after logging in. You will need to be root to edit it. It is usually in /etc/X11. I think yours is gone or damaged, judging from the log that you posted. You seem to have an sis video card. What distro is this?

any help? :newbie:

If you can't find your xorg.conf something is up. What distribution are you using? If it's Debian or a derivative, the running dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg (The actual package name may vary, try aptitude search xorg if it says xserver-xorg doesn't exist) to regenerate it.

This guide will help you create an xorg.conf file http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/xorg-config.xml#doc_chap3
This is the file that tells X how to talk to your hardware. As has been pointed out above, after you have got the automatically generated xorg.conf file you will probably need to edit the section about the mouse to tell X where to find the mouse - usually /dev/inputs/mouse0 rather than /dev/mouse0 which is what the script goes for. To be honest it sounds like you have thrown yourself in at the deep end here, you might be better starting from scratch with a distribution that does all of this stuff for you, then you can get to know linux in a more gentle manner. |
