firestarter and port problem
could someone please tell me what i'm doing wrong?
I followed the installation of FIRESTARTER firewall but it doesn't seem to work for me and when installed it on root I didn't see any graphical interface. Can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong? samething happened with nmap3.0, there was no graphical interface. Also I got port 846 open but the service on that port is unknown, should I worry with that port? :newbie: |
so what does happen when you run "firestarter" from a console? any errors?? please try and give some more useful information when you ask questions. nmaps GUI is normally called nmapfe i believe
and PLEASE try to use more useful thread titles as well, what was wrong with somethign like "Firestarter GUI does not appear on load" or similar? |
when I type [bash]$ tar -zxvf firestarter*
it gives me an error [bash]$ tar -zxvf firestarter* tar (child): firestarter-0.9.0: Cannot read: Is a directory tar (child): at beginning of tape, quitting now tar (child): error is not recoverable: exit now gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file tar: Child returned status 2 tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors |

And what's inside the directory? Maybe you got the archive untarred and are ready to configure and install. |
