Could not write to /media/cdrom0

I got the message in the subject when trying to copy a file from Documents to cdrom. I also have trouble with k3b, perhaps for same reason. Anyone help?

You cannot copy files or folders to a CDROM---you have to use some kind of "burning" SW (e.g k3b)

You don't say what the problem is with k3b, but there might be an issue with permissions. To test this, you can run it as root. In a terminal, enter "su" to become root, and then "k3b". Or, on something like Ubuntu, just one step: "sudo k3b".

Tell us more about your system--what distro, etc.

Thanks. Fixed the permissions and burned another file on appendable cd. When I come to "copy cd"with k3b, I thought k3b was supposed to prompt for source disk, then ask you to take out source and put in blank disk. It does not do last 2 steps automatically. Have I got it badly configured? I am on Kubuntu 8.04.
