Could not install Genymotion fur ubuntu 32 bit after downloading

I revitalized my old XP-laptop into ubuntu 12.04 LTS desktop i386 32 bit.
That worked out nicely, additionally I installed Mozillaś firefox browser
downloaded https://cloud.genymotion.com/page/launchpad/download/
and tried to install Genymotion.
I could not install the program and got repeatedly the message;
The file “/home/elly/Downloads/genymotion-2.0.3_x86.bin” could not be opened.
I am not familiar with the debian programming system and really do not know
what to do to get this android based program working.
Thank you for your info, Frans

Hi fuorviato,
Thanks for your reply.
I was n't to successful until now.

I found out that I had to install up front Oracles virtualbox
I downloaded it successfully but again nit-wit as I am in the
debian field I could not install it either.
The gnome terminal screen reply was:
elly@elly-WIM-2040:~$ bash: install/file:///home/elly/Downloads/virtualbox-4.3_4.3.6-91406~Ubuntu~precise_i386: Bestand of map bestaat niet ( = folder does not exist )
Don't hurry I am out for a while.
Take care, Frans

Hi fuorvatio.
I translated fuorvatio into English and felt a little confused and got a slight feeling of being misguided.
Please don't take this one to strongly.
Sent me your e-mail address and I'll reply with the details directly.
By the way I have to show up in our local hospital tomorrow and to stay for at least a whole week, so again don't hurry cause I'm not able to check my e-mail for ~~ 10 days or so.
Take care, frans

Unable to install Genymotion for Android on a Ubuntu 12.04 laptop

Dear Fuorvatio,
I am back home from hospital and reasonable well.
I still have that problem of not being able to
install the Genymotio file I downloaded from

https://shop.genymotion.com/index.php?controller=order-opc
Android 2.3, 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 These are our main Android flavours.

Another thing, regarding your last mail I did not see or receive any
priv-request otherwise I would have immediately replied you on that.

Take care,
Frans

Hey Frans

I cannot pm you on the forums. Presumably, because you disabled the option to receive messages from other users in your profile page.
Anyway. Tomorrow, I'm gonna download this file and try to install it on my machine to investigate better your issue.

Stay tuned

Łukasz

OK. As promised, I've just downloaded it and installed. Everything went fine. It is to say, I've had VirtualBox installed before so I chose the stand-alone installer Linux 32 bits (Ubuntu, Fedora, Redhat) v2.1.0.
Your problem seems to be that the installer can't find Virtualbox emulator. Try to install it, and run it again.

This is the snippet of the setup on my machine.

Quote:
fuorviatos@fuorviatos:~/Pulpit$ chmod +x genymotion-2.1.0_x86.bin
fuorviatos@fuorviatos:~/Pulpit$ ./genymotion-2.1.0_x86.bin

Installing to folder [/home/fuorviatos/Pulpit/genymotion]. Are you sure [y/n] ? y

- Trying to find VirtualBox toolset .................... OK (Valid version of VirtualBox found: 4.1.12_Ubuntur77245)
- Extracting files ..................................... OK (Extract into: [/home/fuorviatos/Pulpit/genymotion])

Installation done successfully.

You can now use these tools from [/home/fuorviatos/Pulpit/genymotion]:
- genymotion
- genymotion-shell

Dear Fuorvatio,
Sorry for coming back this late to you but believe me there were some reasons.
Thank you for your patience with me.
Below a screen dump of several try-outs installing virtualbox

E: Kan pakket /home/elly niet vinden (Could n't find package)
E: Kan pakket virtualbox-4.3_4.3.6-91406~Ubuntu~precise_i386.deb niet vinden (Could n't find package)
E: Kon geen enkel pakket vinden bij regex 'virtualbox-4.3_4.3.6-91406~Ubuntu~precise_i386.deb'
elly@elly-WIM-2040:~$ ^C
elly@elly-WIM-2040:~$ sudo apt-get install Downloads virtualbox-4.3_4.3.6-91406~Ubuntu~precise_i386.deb
Pakketlijsten worden ingelezen... Klaar
Boom van vereisten wordt opgebouwd
De status informatie wordt gelezen... Klaar
E: Kan pakket Downloads niet vinden (Could n't find package)

I do have a slight tendency to give up the whole wish for
getting android apps to work within the 12.04lts environment.
Take care, Frans

Dear Fuorvatio,
Sorry for replying a little late, that had more to do with my health
than with being eager to follow your highly appreciated advices

Before I downloaded Genymotion I did that with the virtualbox
this is still unzipped located at:
/home/elly/Downloads/virtualbox-4.3_4.3.6-91406~Ubuntu~precise_i386

The file “/home/elly/Downloads/genymotion-2.0.3_x86.bin” could not be opened.

Open your Ubuntu Software Center, search for "virtualbox" and install it. Don't download any files manually. Use Software Center application.
After that open the genymotion file in the way I've showed you before.
It will work.
