Could not download all repository indexes

Ubuntu Feisty. Dell Laptop.

Tried to install via Add/Remove and also via Synaptic this morning, but get this message.

"Could not download all the repository indexes."

I've un-commented most everything in the sources.list file, but still no go.

Changed mirror, and then back, but no go.

Yes. I have a connection.
Some expert on Ubuntu forum said I have to upgrade to the next distro - the feisty repositories are no longer there.

So, I will be several days getting things back to work like they were before I tried to switch to hardy.

In this instance, in trying to setup ubuntu on a laptop, ubuntu thoroughly sucks. People complain frequently about the lack of support for laptops, but the developers do nothing.

Oh well... What you gonna do, run windows?
