Could Irecover my grub dual boot?

I needed to reinstall windows vista in a dual boot via grub machine.

After the installation ends, the dual boot doesn't occur. It always boot via windows vista. I've installed windows in the original windows partition.

The question is: Is there a way to recover the original dual boot?
Windows Vista and Mandriva 2008.

If affirmative, what I is the procedure for this recovery?

Greetings from Sao Paulo - Brazil

Um
if you didn't erase the menu.lst in /boot/grub/menu.lst
then you should juat have to re-install grub I think?

does mandriva use grub.conf or menu.lst?
just become root and open a text editor or file manager as root
and look in /boot/grub in mandriva partition.

Please wait for other members comments as I am no expert:)

Yesterday I boot my computer via Mandriva Installation DVD and select the rescue option. In the menu of the rescue options there is one "reinstall the dual boot manager". I selected it and bingo! Mandriva did the job. After reboot my old dual boot via GRUB was restaured and operational.
Mandriva is really a fantastic distro.

Thank for everybody.

Hi,

I'm glad to hear you solved your problem. You could mark the thread as solved with the thread tools by checking [SOLVED].

that is windows for you
"We are the Microsoft . Resistance is futile . Your own...."

the install cd's and dvd's think that ONLY MS should be installed .

You are lucky that it did not reformat the system to ntfs and "Borg" your Linux install to a vista one.

Hi,

Thread Tools is the second menu bar from the top, second head from the left and pick the down arrow. As the OP you have access to the [Solved] option. Just pick it.
