copying LP to CD using Linux

I have a tube type stereo amplifier (Eico ST-70) and a Empire Troubador turntable, both from 1963. I would like to be able to copy the LP's to CD using Linux. I used Windows before and am pretty fresh to Linux. Can anyone tell me what I need? Thanks,

Welcome to LQ, Dave.

If your current amplifier has line out, plug it into the line in or mic on your sound card. You will also need audio editor software to capture the input.

Just point your browser at google and search for "linux audio editor". There are several: look them over. You should be able to find one that suits you.
